Death Promotes High Ratings at the Grammys

CBS’s broadcast of the Grammy Awards this week attracted more than 39 million viewers. This was the second most watched Grammy’s of all time, only being beat out by the Grammy’s in 1984 featuring Michael Jackson. I believe that the broadcast was watched all around the world due to the fact of Whitney Houston’s death. Everyone wanted to tune in to see Jennifer Hudson give tribute to the famous singer. 39 million viewers received chills from the powerful performance of “I will always love you” done by Hudson. The Grammy’s was a great way to get 39 million viewers to celebrate Whitney Houston’s life

  1. I feel that it was just a good time for the Grammy's because it helped them so much. I know its bad to say that but for their ratings it was a huge thing. I myself never watch any of those i have better things to do and just think that they are a waste of time. A lot of her fans wanted to check in to see what memorial they were going to give her. I think its kind of nice that they did a little show about her.

  2. While the grammys purpose was not solely to celebrate Whitney Houstons life, it is to celebrate the music industry and all of the artists accomplishments. However, it was the timing in which the program was staged and when the music icon passed away. As bad as it is to say, negative events are a good way to real in viewers and thats what happened at the grammys. They had a very nice tribute for Whitney Houston and overall made for a good show, a successful show at that.
