When Twitter announced in September that it would be introducing ads into the news stream from accounts that users did not follow, it created a little chaos and a fair amount of criticism occurred. Some users of Twitters, myself especially, find these ads to be annoying and we do not spend time looking at them. We do not follow certain companies or people because we do not have interest in what they have to offer us so for them to force their advertising on us is very intrusive. Still, there are some tweeters who like this type of advertising with 21% of people that have used a discount successfully through a promoted tweet. How does everyone else feel about this? Are you for twitter advertising or against it?
I feel the same way, when Ads pop up I find it annoying and don't pay attention to them. I never really got into the Twitter thing but however Facebook is now being plagued with Business Profiles. Advertising is just in your face, even renting a movie you have to go thru all the previews to get to the start of the movie
ReplyDeleteWell Kelli, as a big Twitter user myself also i personally an agaainst advertisements of twitter. I like that everything on Twitter is things that I like and that I decide to follow. I think most Twitter users will be very annoyed by adding ads into the news stream.
ReplyDeleteI agree that people get annoyed with all the advertising that you are not interested in, but the Twitter needs to make money and that is there way of doing if without charging their users. I think that a better way that Twitter can do this is when they show the ads, they can have something that asks if the product or service applies to you and if you say yes they will send you coupons and other ads. If you say no, then those ads won't come up anymore.
ReplyDeleteI myself think that they should be allowed to have advertising because how else are they suppose to make money. Facebook does the same thing they just have better placement for their ads. I use twitter but never have been a big fan for it. Its just like the solicitors on your phone even if your not interested just say no thanks. They never have been that annoying so I don't see any reason why they have to change it.
