Some people can’t imagine their shopping experience not involving
daily deals. So many more websites have come out with a daily deal section ever
since Groupon’s huge success in 2008 when it was launched in Chicago. Daily
deals are becoming the new trend and some people will not buy products or items
unless there is a coupon involved. Companies are beginning to hop on the daily
deal bandwagon because companies can use this strategy to attract new customers
and also keep current customers loyal. Thoughts on daily deals?
So many people use coupons and deals everyday, but in the end, are they really even saving? I've had so many experiences where I've had to spend a certain amount to get the deal that I just end up buying things I don't even need. This happens frequently to a lot of people, so I guess this type of advertising is a success for certain companies.
ReplyDeleteIts a great way to get people in the store and shopping. I believe the philosophy is as long as the consumer thinks they are not paying full price for something they feel accomplished in their shopping. Also, its kind of a smart idea because these daily deals are leveraging the state of the economy(which is bad at the moment) that help companies give consumers peace of mind shopping with them. At this point, its a trust issue and the daily deals are providing good faith to consumers and its working no matter how small the deal.
ReplyDeleteI love websites like Groupon and Living Social. It gives you an opportunity to do things and go places you would not normally go because of price. It also shows you that these places can drop their prices 50% and still make a profit, showing how inflated everything is that we buy. I agree with Taylor on some aspects, once I am searching through deals I find myself buying flat irons and dinner groupons for things I don't even need. If you use their sites wisely you can really get a good deal. The best deals are usually through their vacations because the deals for food have so many fine print limitations they are barely worth using.
DeleteI think it is a really good way for companies to promote themselves and get their name out there. Companies such as Groupon and Living Social are definitely making current customers happy and gaining a lot of new ones. I agree with Taylor and Katherine that these types of deals are very attractive at the time although a lot of the time consumers don't need or use the deals. I have bought things I don't need simply because it's was a good deal. I have purchased plenty of things from Groupon and Living Social and haven't used all of them and also have spent more just to "save". It is very successful for the business though.
ReplyDeleteIm not going to lie...I love daily deals! They are so awesome. I am a member of Groupon and i get multiple e mails from them every day. This past Summer I got a three night stay for two people in a 4 star resort in Orlando, Florida for $299. That was the total price for all three nights, not the price per night. It only cost me $150 for three nights in Orlando. How can you beat that deal. I have checked my groupons every day since then, just incase the deal of a lifetime comes around again. One thing is for certain...Groupon has definitely made me a happy camper!
